So, you created a social media page for your business. Now what?

Social media engagement levels are way up compared to last year. Because of this shift in behavior, social media showed some notable changes during the most active hours, which begs the question, what are the best times and days to post on social media? Best times will vary depending on your goals and industry, but you can use these suggestions as a baseline.

Facebook

Posting at the optimal time to Facebook can help your business stand out and reach more of your audience. With 2.6 billion monthly active users as of 2020, it’s safe to say that nearly every social media user is on Facebook. So it’s no surprise that round-the-clock engagement it normal. The best times to post are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday between 9 a.m.–1 p.m.

Instagram

Instagram has new features such as reels, enhanced stories, and push discovery. This makes it a great platform to find and share new hobbies. Brands can use this to stay up to date with trends. The best times to post are Monday through Friday at 11 am.

Twitter

Last year, Twitter was a first source of information for updates on COVID-19 and the US Presidential Elections. As a result, the platform began to emphasize news and information accuracy. Peak times were high throughout weekdays, with increases seen in the evenings. The best times here are Tuesday through Thursday from 9–11 a.m.

LinkedIn

LinkedIn content is centered around leadership and career growth, making peak engagement here consistent with normal work hours. Weekends, on the other hand, drop significantly. The best times are Tuesday through Thursday from 9 a.m.–noon.

There is no foolproof time or day to post on social media. Your brand’s ideal time is as unique as your audience and different for every channel. All platforms collect audience insights. Pay attention to these and as your account grows, change your posting schedule to better fit your audience’s activity. With Twitter and LinkedIn, look at past post-performance and for Instagram and Facebook, look at past performance and when your followers are online.
